Modern Memory Design stretches rolled canvas paintings, giclée prints, and photo canvases onto kiln-dried wood stretcher bars, hand-tensioned and squared so your artwork arrives back tight and ready to hang. We serve Bergen County and the NYC metro area from our studio at 213 Boulevard, Hasbrouck Heights, NJ 07604, and artists nationwide through our mail-in stretching service.

How Mail-In Canvas Stretching Works

  1. Order your size from the stretching collection — pick the listing that matches your canvas dimensions.
  2. Roll and ship your canvas to us. Roll it painted-side out around a tube if possible, wrap it in paper, and pack it in a sturdy box or shipping tube.
  3. We stretch it by hand on kiln-dried bars in 0.75" standard or 1.5" gallery depth, with even tension and clean corner folds.
  4. Optional finishing: add a canvas floater frame for a gallery-ready edge, or ask about full custom framing.
  5. We ship it back ready to hang — return shipping is included.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does canvas stretching take?

In-store drop-offs are typically ready within a few days. Mail-in orders are stretched and shipped back promptly after your canvas arrives at our studio.

Can you stretch a canvas that isn't a standard size?

Yes. Because we build stretcher frames in-house, we can match any custom dimension in inches or centimeters. Email contact@modernmemorydesign.com with your measurements for a quote.

What depth stretcher bars do you use?

Most canvases are stretched on 1.5" gallery-depth bars, which look finished without a frame. A 0.75" standard depth is available for canvases that will be framed traditionally.

Will stretching damage my painting?

No — every canvas is handled and tensioned by hand by experienced framers. We've stretched originals, giclées, and delicate older canvases for years without incident.

Should I frame my stretched canvas?

A gallery-wrapped canvas hangs beautifully on its own, but a floater frame adds a finished edge and protects the corners. Browse our floater frames for stretched canvas.

Do you also sell blank stretched canvases?

Yes — most sizes are available as primed cotton blank canvases, ready to paint, in the same collection.
